Checkout of the Future

We are currently developing one of the largest checkout projects in food retail for our Lidl division. Cloud-based, online, and with external interfaces, which are both future-proof and flexible. The goal is seamless integration of mobile services for in-store customers, tight interlinking with digital offers, and the deployment of modern cloud technologies.

New Country Opening in Estonia

First official Lidl store openings in Estonia in March 2022: Tallinn, Pärnu, Tartu and Narva. Working with the IT departments from Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, more than 120 of our colleagues contributed to the development of frictionless IT operation in the Baltic state. Everything had to be built from scratch: from wiring, server and network installation and the construction of warehouse and logistics systems, to the checkout systems in the stores.

Process Software Food

The digitalization and automation of purchasing processes will not just allow us to make Lidl purchasing more efficient in the future, but will also open up new areas for potential optimization: the automation of manual processes, faster time-to-market for new products, complete end-to-end monitoring of the entire process and transformation from on-premise to cloud solutions.

Tailwind

The Schwarz Group Cuts Dependencies: In future, Lidl intends to circumnavigate transport difficulties and costs in global trade by deploying its own container ships. At Schwarz IT, we had to implement a totally new merchandise management system tailored to “shipping”: This encompassed everything from determining the scope to selecting the right software and final configuration and implementation.

MORE

MORE (MicroStrategy Operatives Reporting Logistik) is our user-friendly reporting solution for warehouse employees, which allows Lidl to efficiently and transparently optimize its assortment. The previous solutions were increasingly showing the limits of their capabilities: Data from the various system landscapes was being stored locally, without any connection to existing cloud solutions. Thanks to MORE, goods logistics and merchandise management, together with associated projects, systems and units, are now being linked to the cloud and reporting is now carried out in near or real-time.
